Lady in Red

A few months back, a friend of mine called and said she had bought a house that was full of junk....she

wanted me to come take a look at it.  Actually, I blogged about it here.  One of my favorite pieces i

found was this beautiful couch I will refer to as  "lady in red."  The curves on her are stunning...she has a low

back which gives her somewhat of a mysterious modern edge.

Today, I began working on her.  I painted the woodwork french gray, in a very carefree sort of fashion.  I

am anxious to see what other colors my imagination will incorporate. I must get her to my upholstery guy this

week or else she may not be ready in time for the Spring Sale...that would be devastating! I am still debating

on what fabric I want to recover her in....linen, burlap, something funky, white, greige.......who knows?  She

needs a lot of TLC but I know it will be well worth it when she is finished with her makeover.

Oh yeh, look at my little whirly bird will soon be wired and hung in my kitchen over my island. Another fantastic find from my visit to Canton, Texas.  I promise to do a post on that soon...It deserves a LOT of attention....
Oh lovely whirly bird.......How I love thee!

A Taste of Spring

I am in Love.....the day before yesterday, Wednesday, was soooo pretty here in my little country town!  I soooo needed to see some sunshine ...To me, it is amazing the psychological impact a little sunshine can have on the mind.  God definitely knew what he was doing when he created it.  The winter time gives us that break we need to keep us from taking the sunshine for granted.  I got out and used my camera...I love natural light.

I already have buttercups creeping up out of the ground and hopefully, my tulips will return as well.  I don't know about those tulips...they are a little too temperamental for me.  One year they come up, the next year they don't.  I hear they have some now that are true perennials....they WILL be back every year.

I found this dress form when I went to Canton, Texas a few weeks ago....more pics coming soon.  I am sure you have, but I have never seen one like this before.  This trip was suppose to be a buying trip for my sale, however,  this sweet treasure will be staying put in my little cottage.

I believe in the power of prayer...I ask you to please keep my family in your prayers over the next few weeks.  I will share more as the opportunity presents itself.

Happy Love Day

I love my little guys....but why is it so hard to get the littlest one to pose for the camera?

I don't know about you, but me and my hubby don't make a huge deal out of Vday...we just love all year round....He he...don't hit me.

For Kailen's Valentines, I cut hearts out of fabric and sewed them around the lollipop....I used all different types of scrap fabric.  I have sooooooo much scrap fabric I could open a store.

Give the one you love a big kiss....if you don't, you might regret it later on......Sweet Kisses~

A Day of Fun

I think my kids have missed more snow days this school year than I missed my entire time in grade school.  I

think it's pretty and all....and I sure enjoy sleeping in, however, I have things to do.  When the kids are home,

I don't even attempt to do anything significant.....well, I can't do much anyway because:

1. I can't tolerate the cold

2. My garage is so crammed full of junk, I have no workspace

3. My building is so crammed full of junk, I have no workspace

4.My house is so crammed full of junk, I have no workspace

So, I have been spending my time doing a whole lot of nothing lately.  Today, we did make chocolate chip

cookies and snow creme that was super duper uber good.  I used a Paula Dean recipe that called for sweet

condensed milk and vanilla....highly recommend! I hope everyone enjoys their will be beautiful so

get outside and clean out your flowerbeds.

Take Time to Smell the Roses

Have you ever had a moment of fear when you suddenly realize, that in a blink of an eye, your whole world

could change? Well I have recently had that fear....I am sure it has been purely unnecessary, but

nevertheless, the fear was experienced.  You see, my whole life has always been relatively smooth...I have

achieved most of my goals....I went through high school, college, and grad school with ease...I found a mate

who has chosen to tolerate me for the rest of my life....I have three healthy children (although one has had a

fever since monday)...I have always been a wonderful daughter, mother and wife I have always

TRIED to be a good daughter, wife, and mother....I have never experienced any sudden deaths or serious

illness in my family.....I have always had a decent home to live in.....I have never been on the verge of

bankruptcy.    My life has been smooth in the big scheme of things.

Then how is it, that in a blink, that smoothness you have always been familiar with can be taken away....kinda

like skiing on that glossy lake in the early morning when everything is perfect, then, all of a sudden that big

stump suddenly jumps out at you.  It happens...It's life...It's one of the ways God has intended to develop

perseverance in His children.

So much I take for life in general...I am so lucky to be able to love

and be loved.  If you are out there and life has thrown you a curve ball, I will refer you to Romans 5:1-5  as

did a good friend of mine this morning (thank you for that Delanie!).

These verses reminded me, once again, this life is not about me, it's about Him....and for this, I am grateful

and will proceed on knowing His will is perfect.  Just stop and smell the roses and make the best of the time

we have....always loving and having compassion for others.....for we do not know the number of days we

have been dealt.

I really do need to stop and smell the roses.
